宿題

宿題はpet peeveについて。私が作った英文は下の3つ。

My first pet peeve is keeping to open seasoning bottles. I get nervous at the thinking of dust getting into or a bottle falling over.
Second is the volume of TV sound. I like small sounds, so a large volume makes me mad.
The third is my room’s luminosity. I don’t like bright so much.

「開けたまま放置する」は”leave open”の方がよく使われる。
また「~について考えると」は”at the thought of …“。”thinking”でも文法的には正しいけれど、それだと「今現在考えている」となる。先程の文章では「過去に思い返しただけで」という感じなので”thought”の方が良い。
明るい照明は”bright light”。

新しい単語や熟語

tender: 優しい。soft, delicateの意味もある(tender meatなど)。主に食べ物やパーソナリティに使う。”She seems very tender”など。
firm: 硬い。tightと同じ。こちらも食べ物やパーソナリティに使う。他にも”firm hand shake”などのように使う。
modernize: 近代的な
concrete: 具体的な(=solid, physical), 反対語はabstract

share: シェア (considerate, stateとは違う読み方をする例外)
bright light: ブラィライ　(最後のtはほぼ発音しない)
wood: ウゥーッド (最初のwを強く発音する)
architecture: アーキテクシュア、アーキテクチュア (ctの部分をshで発音することもある)

「優しい味」は英語でなんという？

“Soup has a delicate taste”。他にも”soft”, “just to right(ちょうど良い)”, “healthy(味はしっかりするけど健康的)”などが考えられる。
